“Kalle und Elsa” - Jenny Westin Verona, Jesús Verona

Language of book for review: German

Published also in: n/a

The story tells of Kalle and Elsa, who play together at Kalle's house while Kalle's mum works in the kitchen. Imagination and creativity guide their play. They come up with new situations and each of them can add an idea. Finally, the two decide to run away and conquer the garden - despite their mother's warning not to go outside. There they experience a jungle with howling wolves and biting crocodiles. When they build a den and prepare a snack, Elsa suddenly disappears and Kalle goes looking for her. He can't find her anywhere, only her rucksack is still there. Fear slowly rises in him and he wonders how he can find Elsa again in this thicket. When Elsa sneaks up and frightens him, Kalle gets angry. Are the two of them fighting? Not really, they seem to have a balanced friendship that can withstand this kind of togetherness.
