Milli loves to make art out of scraps she finds. But she’s hiding her talent and spending her days with the same-old job of making boring shoes. Even though she dreams of spending more time on doing what she really loves, she cannot get herself to fully committing to her art. Then, Jack and the dancing cat stop in the small town where Milli lives and they visit Milli’s shop. Without any money on hand, they offer dancing classes to Milli in replacement of paying for new shows. Milli accepts and a friendship develops between the three based on dancing, and expressing themselves. Through dancing and the inspiration from Jack and the dancing cat, Milli dives into her own art again. She is making gifts for Jack and the Cat. Though, she does not stop there. She uses the momentum and spark of creativity given to her, that she starts transforming her entire life.
Stephen Michael King translates the need for true expression of self into a loving children’s story. He gives children a character to get inspiration from, to try their own hobbies, to live out their latest interest, in order to truly becoming themselves and living their true selves.
